Nations

Nation establishment starts with engagement.

FND does not simply switch on a Nation profile and assume authority. Before Nation-controlled functions are released, FND engages the relevant board or authorised representatives, explains the system, reviews the profile with them and records the Nation's governance settings.

The public Nation record is a reference layer only. Establishment is the controlled pathway by which a Nation decides how it will participate and who is authorised to administer its Nation functions.

What the Nation dashboard provides

Governance tools held under Nation authority.

Connected people

See members who declare a relationship with the Nation and, once verified, the information they choose to share with authorised Nation representatives.

Nation verification

Keep membership confirmation with the Nation rather than allowing FND, a service provider or an automated system to decide cultural identity or membership.

Australia-wide visibility

Understand where connected members are based when they choose to share suitable location information. FND does not infer or fabricate member locations.

Learning and capability

View Academy completion information that verified members choose to share, helping boards understand learning participation and capability across their people.

Business connections

See linked business profiles that members choose to share and support Nation-led economic participation without treating regional listings as Nation endorsement.

Service engagement

Create a clearer pathway for medical centres, community organisations, industry and government to engage the appropriate Traditional Owners and authorised governance pathway.

Nation-controlled public profile

Review what appears publicly about the Nation and progressively release information under the Nation's own permissions and governance settings.

Audit and accountability

Maintain a record of authorised representatives, decisions, profile changes and establishment steps so platform access is not based on informal or undocumented assumptions.

Onboarding pathway

From first contact to controlled activation.

Board contact received

An authorised representative or board member starts the conversation. This is an engagement request only. It does not activate a Nation profile or confer authority.

Board engagement

FND meets with the relevant board or authorised representatives to explain the platform, the Nation dashboard, member visibility, governance controls and what establishment means.

Profile review

The Nation reviews its public reference profile, naming, general region, public information and the information it wants corrected, withheld or released.

Governance settings

The Nation determines its authorised administrators, member verification pathway, permissions and what may be public, member-only or restricted.

Administrators confirmed

FND verifies the approved platform administrators and records the governance basis for their access. FND does not appoint who speaks for a Nation.

Controlled activation

Only after the engagement and governance steps are complete can the Nation-controlled functions be activated. Establishment is recorded with an audit trail.

Start Nation engagement

Request a board engagement with FND.

This form records who is making contact and why they are approaching FND. Submission does not prove board authority and does not activate the Nation. FND will confirm the appropriate governance pathway before access is granted.

Nation authority remains with Nations. Member visibility is consent-led. FND does not infer identity, membership, authority or Country boundaries from location, surnames, public records or directory data.
